All the best local vendors and experts in the wedding industry will be sharing their know-how and advice, as well as answering questions from the audience.
Be sure to watch it!
Give me feedback below after the show. Did you love it? Hate it? Have any questions?
But, before you let loose for the weekend, check out this EPIC wedding invitation. It is a bit long (4 minutes!), but I guarantee you’ve never seen anything like this:
Music’s biggest night is only a few days away. I thought I would share this year’s Grammy Nominated, wedding appropriate songs.
Choose great love songs like “Halo” by Beyonce or “I Just Call You Mine” by Martina McBride for your first dance song. Try songs like “Poker Face” by Lady GaGa or “Day ‘N’ Night” by Kid Cudi for your Bridal Party. “Celebration” by Madonna or “When Love Takes Over” By David Guetta is sure to pack your dance floor.
Listen to our favorite nominees below:

Yesterday, I was forwarded this email from one of our recent couples: Jamie and Phil. They booked videographer Jason Chevatewa for their wedding. Check out their note:
Hi Jason!
It is VERY uncommon to receive great customer service from a company, but you have it at Mike Staff!
Jamie and I became fans of Mike Staff from the first moment we sat down in your office during our initial visit.
Every staff member we have spoken with has been cordial, confident and very professional. We are so happy we found Mike Staff to create our Wedding Video.
We watched the final edition of the DVD last night and we are SO happy with the finished product!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!
-Phil Soli
Wow, what a compliment! Thank Phil and Jamie! And thanks Jason for really delivering for our clients.

Wedding Reception traditions are beginning to get a bit dated. How many of your girlfriend’s are fighting to win the bouquet toss or men scrambling for the garter? But there is one traditional reception activity that I am quite partial to: The Anniversary Dance. This is a great way to get people on the dance as well as celebrate longevity in marriage.
The Anniversary Dance works best if you have a lot of guests who have been married for a long time.
Directions: Your DJ will invite all married couples to the dance floor to share a dance with the newlyweds. Once the dance floor is full, your DJ will then politely ask couples (with the exception of the bride & groom) who’ve been married less than 1 year…then 5 years …then 10 years, etc. to please leave the dance floor.
The Bride & Groom will be left dancing with the couple that has been married the longest (usually grandparents). Your DJ will get a round of applause for them and then ask them if they have any advice for you (since they’ve got more experience than anyone else in the room).
One of our recently married couples, Bridget and Michael, opted to have an Anniversary Dance. The DJ called all married couples to the dance floor. Suddenly Bridget and Michael were surrounded my couples of all ages. Slowly, the crowd of dancers began to dwindle away, and the newlyweds were left with just one couple who had been married 65 YEARS!! Talk about something to aspire to.
When asked for advice to share with Bridget and Michael, the couple said simply: “Take care of each other and serve one another,” very simple, yet profound and wise.

Are you trying to get the most out of your wedding budget? If you are like most Detroit Area brides you are looking to cut costs by doing some Do-it-Yourself projects or enlisting friends to help. Whether you are thinking hand-made centerpieces, unique ceremony decorations, or creating your own silk flower arrangements, capitalize on the skills and interest you have already.
One couple did just that. Instead of struggling to make Martha Stewart approved invitations, the couple did what they knew: stop-motion animation.
Check out their one-of-a-kind wedding invitation video:
(Warning: the clip is a bit long, but no matter how much you watch, you will definitely get a kick out of it.)

Yesterday, I blogged about our upcoming Print Ad Campaign, and we asked for feedback about which ad you liked best. The winner was Print Ad 2!! Click here to view the ads.
Now we are onto Round 2 of our Print Ad Pre-testing, and we need your feedback one more time.
I love the feedback that we’ve been getting from all of our readers, but now is when I really need your input. We will be running some print ads in the knot and some local outlets, and we just couldn’t move on a decision without consulting our friends in social media.
We are thinking outside the box on this one. No pastel colors, goofy cursive fonts, or cheesy posed pictures (if you didn’t think that was clever - check out a recent bridal magazine.)
Here’s where you come in: I want to know your opinion. The good, the bad, keep the ugly to a minimum, but give it to me straight! What colors do you like the most? Do you like any of them? Would you download the e-book after looking at this?
If you have been following my blog or looked through the MSP website, Facebook page, or read our Tweets, you know that we love to do weddings, but that’s not all. Many corporate events and private parties use our services as well.
Just recently, Arrow Uniform hosted its annual holiday party and had our DJ, Kevin Joynt in charge of entertainment for the evening. The party was hosted at Joe Louis Arena in the Olympia Club.
Guest were able to skate on the ice, munch at concession style dinner stations, and enter to win some pretty sweet raffle prizes (Piston and Red Wings tickets, i-Pod Touch, autographed sport memorabilia, a GPS, and more.)
Also, former Red Wings coach and player Dave Lewis was on hand to sign autographs and mingle.
Guests cock-tailed and danced the night away to Kevin playing a mix of 80’s rock.
Sounds like a party to me!
