Unique, Budget Saving Ideas

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Are you trying to get the most out of your wedding budget?  If you are like most Detroit Area brides you are looking to cut costs by doing some Do-it-Yourself projects or enlisting friends to help. Whether you are thinking hand-made centerpieces, unique ceremony decorations, or creating your own silk flower arrangements, capitalize on the skills and interest you have already.

One couple did just that. Instead of struggling to make Martha Stewart approved invitations, the couple did what they knew: stop-motion animation.

Check out their one-of-a-kind wedding invitation video:
(Warning: the clip is a bit long, but no matter how much you watch, you will definitely get a kick out of it.)

This Week’s Wrap-up and Daughtry’s New Song

Friday, January 15th, 2010

I don’t know about you, but my week flew by — so many exciting things going on at MSP!! Yesterday, I had the rehearsal for Channel 7’s Ultimate Wedding Planning Show, and we shot the final version today.  I am on such a life high from the excitement surrounding it. I have to admit though - my career in radio didn’t prepare me for the lights, camera, actions (Can I put an emphasis on lights? They were bright!)spotlight

Also, I have been preparing for Bridal Expo 2010 and Winter Bridal Celebrations at the Palace. Both are being held this weekend. We have some GREAT giveaways! If you are a Detroit Area bride, you need to stop by our booth to check it out.

To start your weekend off right, check out the new song from Daughtry, “Life After You.” This could be the new wedding song for 2010.

New Movie: Leap Year

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

leap_year_2If you read yesterday’s blog, you know that this is the time of year when Detroit Area girlfriends are turning into Detroit Area fiancés. But what if he is only getting down on one knee to tie his shoe or is only asking your father for permission to borrow some tools?  Would you take action instead?

In the new movie from Universal Pictures, Leap Year (opening January 8, 2010), Anna (Amy Adams) thinks that the little box her boyfriend (Adam Scott) of four years was seen buying is something for her left hand. When it turns out to be earrings, Anna takes charge and hatches a plan to use the Irish tradition of women proposing to men on Leap Day.

How do you ladies feel about proposing?

If that engagement ring is already on your finger, it is time to start planning.
