Metro Detroit Brides’ Wedding Planner and Organizer

Monday, January 18th, 2010

Monday has rolled its pretty little head around again, and I’m still recovering from last week.  It’s great to be busy, but I’ll take a second to reflect over this past weekend.

One of our favorite parts of the Bridal Shows last weekend was finally being able to announce Metro Detroit Brides’ Wedding Planning & Organizer.  This is a binder pack with 200 pages of timelines, budgets, worksheets, organizers, custom tabs and folders.  Plus, dozens of special reports including…wedding-binder-cover2

“The Metro Detroit Brides’ Wedding Binder and Organizer has been my life-saver throughout my wedding planning process.  I couldn’t imagine trying to plan my wedding without it. I loved the local advice and resources.”

“My meeting with Mike Staff Productions was fun and relaxed. They really listened to what I wanted and didn’t try to pressure me into anything. I ended up bundling my DJ and Photography services and saved $1300. I would definitely recommend checking them out.”

A Once in a Millennium Moment

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

9-9-09 …Obviously enough, that only happens once in a millennium, but one of our newly hitched couples made that date even more special… they made it their anniversary.  If you’re checking your day planner, it was this past Wednesday - yes, a Wednesday for a wedding!!  All around the world couples flocked early to have this memorial and historically lucky number combination as their day in history. Here in Detroit, this day brought more than just luck for our happy couple:

One of our DJs, Kevin Joynt, was able to make this day a little more special because of his eye or we’ll say ear for detail. He remembered his couple mentioning Billy Joel as a choice favorite.  After pre-alerting the crowd to note their watches at 9:00pm, Kevin played Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” in perfect timing.  “It’s 9 o’clock on a Saturday….”  (Get it? 9 o’clock on 9-9-09!!) Even though it was a Wednesday, the crowd loved it and the new couple was more than pleasantly surprised.

Add a late night snack of French bread pizza and a sparkler lit, videoed send off; and that’s a date everyone will remember.

Even Weddings can be “PC”

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

8110911You may or may not have heard the term “Man” of honor, but what about Grooms- women? In a recent wedding reception we DJ’d, the groom selected not one, but two of his female friends to be Grooms-women.

At first, this modern day modification seemed to create a couples imbalance … but the bridal party worked it out beautifully by allowing their obvious friendship to out-weigh potential problems. The friendship displayed by the bridal party on both sides resonated through the entire event and made the evening magical, and intoxicating.

Bottom line … feel free to break the stereotypes!

5 Alternatives to Clinging Glasses at your Wedding Reception

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

There are other ways to kiss at your wedding reception!

If the custom of clinging glasses gets on your nerves during wedding receptions, there are other ways guests can entice kisses from the bride and groom. Each has its own charm and possible drawbacks. None of these work for everyone. Pick one that appeals to you, or create your own.

1. Ring Bells. Place a hand-held bell on each dining table. Choose a collection of bells that sound pleasing, as you’ll be listening to them repeatedly through the night. While you can probably find brass bells at any discount store, those made of glass or silver add a touch of elegance. Tie a colorful ribbon to each.

2. Sing Love Songs. Guests at each table stand up and sing love songs, as they have for years, to prompt the happy couple to kiss. This carries on a lovely tradition but guests are occasionally reluctant.

3. Kiss “this” Way. A guest approaches the head table with his or her significant other, and they demonstrate the way they want the newlyweds to kiss. Be prepared for some outrageous suggestions.

4. Putt for a Kiss. Great for golf enthusiasts! Place a small putting green in front of the head table or on the dance floor. If a guest gets a hole-in-one, then the couple must kiss.

5. Kiss to a Song. For couples who wish to share one long kiss, instead of multiple kisses, the DJ will play “This Kiss” by Faith Hill. The newlyweds will then kiss throughout the entire song. Warning: 3:15 is a LONG time to kiss. If you prefer another song about kissing, your favorite could also be appropriate.
